Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary and Floating Village Trip is the most beautiful water bird watching trip in Cambodia. It is one of the three biospheres of Tonle Sap Lake, and this beautiful bird sanctuary makes it the most interesting and easiest to visit. Excursions to the sanctuary also bring you closer to the fascinating floating village of Prek Toal, a very authentic image of life on and along the lake and river.

You will be picked up from your hotel at 6:00 am and travel to one of the Tonle Sap Lake Village, Mechrey or Chong Khneas Floating Village, where you will board a private wooden boat and begin your journey through the open waters of the large lake.  The 1h30 trip crosses the great Tonle Sap Lake, then navigates the waterways along the Sangker River past many floating villages where people live and an amazing natural flood barrier.

Upon arrival at Prek Toal Floating Village, you will join another community boat in the flooded forest of the central bird sanctuary. Cruise through the protected bird sanctuary and spot species of all kinds and climb to the tops of the trees to take in the wider view of the bird colonies.

If you like, we can make a stop at the floating village of Prek Toal to visit a Water Hyacinth Handicraft where the local resident makes artisanal products made from hyacinth. People collected Water Hyacinth plant (known as the long-life growing plant) free-floating, growing from the surface of the water. Using hyacinth stems that have been carefully dried in the sun, weavers create a variety of products by hand.

Returning from the water bird viewing sites, have lunch at the local community's floating restaurant with enjoying the activities of daily village life before returning to Siem Reap.

Take the boat back to Siem Reap and you will arrive at your hotel around 3:00 PM.
